Dental repair

A 44 year old male patient came to our clinic for implant treatment to permanently replace a partial denture in the anterior region.

The lack of a satisfactory occlusal plane, the reduced vertical dimension of the face created the image of an edentulous person with a reverse curve in the smile.

    • The design of the case on a diagnostic wax model was transferred to the patient’s mouth, by means of orthodontic adams brackets. Besides a smooth occlusal plane, an isometric level of soft tissue and dental structures was also achieved. Anterior teeth also reappeared after 25 years.
    • The CT scan showed bone atrophy due to long term use of a partial denture. Extensive cortical-cansellus bone autograft was harvested from the chin and elevation of the left maxillary sinus was achieved. After 4 months, five implants were placed in the upper jaw and 4 implants in the lower.
    • Prosthetic restoration was carried out after 6 months and consisted of a screw retained bridge with pink ceramic material. This type of restoration acts as a splint for the implants.

The implant restoration gave great satisfaction and confidence to the patient.
